I’m getting excited about Guild Wars 2. ArenaNet posted a new video about there design manifesto along with a blog post available here which talks about how they have been designing there game which is pretty positive. It’s this sort of thing that makes me look forward to the game but the main thing I like from this is there attempts to perhaps not remove grind entirely, but at least make it fun or less noticeable.

Getting rewards for doing something is cool, but artificially extending a game with grind annoys me. (Like the pointless gear grind every six months in World of Warcraft!) Now all I have to do is cross my fingers for a beta invite to Guild War 2.
